ServiceLive

Calling itself "an enterprise level project management application", ServiceLive is an internet based platform for contract maintenance work, including computer repair.

The concept is similar to OnForce. Buyers pay $10 to route a service order through the system and Providers pay 10% of the service invoice.

Eric Castro, Director of Channel Management for ServiceLive was interviewed on The Force Field podcast in Episode 36 – Profit From the Service Platform.

  1. They are OK
Not great and not lousy. A wholly own subsidiary of Sears, the intent probably was to create a valued service business to compliment their appliance, garage door, etc sales. The IT stuff was a logical extension since so many others were doing it and because a large number of former CUSA people came over when CUSA was shutdown.

In reality the IT stuff, while somewhat busy in the beginning, is virtually non-existent now. I’m sure their poor contractor management skills played a big part in driving off buyers. I had a number of calls where I was the third or fourth tech onsite and the stories were incredible. One in particular, the tech said that all he was being paid to go was replace the power supply in the computer and if she wanted him to turn it on and test it she had to pay him $50 cash in advance.

I think that now they are pretty much a services loss leader to generate appliance, garage door, etc sales.

if im not mistaken, they are part of Sears. they called me once to a repair a washing machine, I mentioned to them that there isnt anything in information technology for washing machines..that was yrs ago..never heard from them again[/quote]

They are Sears Service — one company near me takes most of their stuff, but they are ready to fire them…. not paying enough to add them to additionally insured for $50/yr

  4. Just another Kid on the Block
Nothing special. I did one job in 3 years just to try it out. Cheap pay work orders. They call and beg you to make an offer or at least log in and reject it. Get’s old.

    **UPDATE** 27FEB12

They spun off another company that supplies lead, have no interest in paying $25.00 per lead when there is no guarantee of work.

This comany is still a waste of resources

  6. eh…
I’ve done a couple of calls for them, one went okay but turned out to be *way* more hassle than it should’ve been (just tattooing an HP MB and HD), and the other was a no-show, which I’m still waiting to get paid for. All I’m seeing coming through them is from the one buyer, Image Microsystems, who I don’t have the capability to block on their system, and who I won’t work for again.

Their website is truly horrible, *slow* and lacking in some of the features I’ve come to expect on OF and elsewhere.

    UPDATE:

After dealing with them for a while I finally got paid for two calls that weren’t paid when they should’ve been, and the lesser time for those was over a year. They kept on calling me and I repeatedly informed them of the problem and finally told them that since they didn’t seem to be willing or able to address any of the issues I was no longer interested in doing business with them.
