Security vendor McAfee, Inc. announced yesterday that it intends to purchase Safeboot B.V., a privately owned data security company, for $350 million. Safeboot provides data encryption solutions for mobile devices. McAfee hopes the acquisition will put the company in the number one spot in risk management and data security solutions for the enterprise.
In an Email announcement to McAfee SecurityAlliance Partners Monday evening, Roger King, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Channel Operations boasted the acheivements of Safeboot as the advantages of the acquisition to both McAfee and its partners.
"This acquisition represents a great win for McAfee and our channel partners as we add key capabilities in data security to enhance our portfolio of risk management solutions", King told partners. "And it clearly positions McAfee as the industry leader in security risk management with the most comprehensive and integrated offerings."
Safeboot has more than 4200 blue-chip customers in 76 countries, 150 of which are fortune 500 companies.
