Research carried out by UK-based web company Netflare Ltd reveals the true extent of website failure in start-ups and small businesses in which only 23% of those surveyed reported any measure of success. The main findings of the phone surveys of a representative sample of small businesses are;
Most businesses surveyed said they want their website to increase sales, yet only 23% achieved any measure of success. 25% do not have any idea what sales are generated by their website.
On average, the last update of their website was ten months ago. 23% have not updated their website since its launch, on average 4 years ago.
38% spend no money updating their website. <\/p>\n

Jon Beal, Managing Director of Netflare says "it's not surprising businesses are wasting the potential of their websites, they lack the knowledge, marketing and support to reap the benefits of this new marketplace." <\/p>\n

Beal also reports that this is typical of businesses who seek help from him with their website creation, design and marketing. "In my experience, businesses do not measure the success of their website; worse do not even know what or how to measure. Because they don't even know if it's working, they are not investing in their website, and yet they are still paying monthly fees for failing websites, because they feel they ought to have one." <\/p>\n

Netflare has created a way out of this spiral of website decline by publishing four free reports it calls "The 4 Pillars of Website Success" and by launching its Business Web Factory service that uses a "7 Week Blueprint to Success" email course to guide business owners step by step through the whole process. <\/p>\n

Marketing – It is vital to grasp the basic concepts of marketing or the website will inevitably fail.

Support – This final report shows how with the right marketing, design and technical support a business can achieve website success. <\/p>\n
