touch screens and heat?

I noticed during some of that hot weather recently that the touch screen on my recently acquired phone,  as well as the one on the tablet that I also happened to have in the car with me,  were pretty unresponsive when I came out of a place into the heat and then got into the car.

Not having a whole lot of experience with touch screens,  I'm wondering -- is this normal?

They both worked just fine after a little while,  and still do.  It was just annoying to not be able to use 'em right off when I wanted to...

How do you know it is the touch screen?  No way to tell to be honest from what I have seen.  At any rate do you have a IR temp device?  See what temp your device is and compare it to operating specs.  Apple reports that the high end operating temp for an iPhone is 95 F.

iPhones will give an overheat message and will not allow you to use it until it cools down. I speak from experience. Your car dash is a bad place to leave your phone.

Ive had em get pretty hot and ive used them in 120 degree weather.  They wont charge when they get hot, but ive never had them unresponsive when theyve gotten hot.

Interesting you mention that Brian.  Had totally forgotten about that.  But I have not seen that message since my first iPhone, a 3g.  Currently with a 4S and have not seen that.  Of course I'm not in the Pan Handle of Texas, where they hold the Hotter Than Hell 100.
