Could be interesting, if the deal goes through.

Nobody likes AT&T to begin with.
As a cellular carrier they sucked.
As a wireless carrier they sucked.
As a DSL company they sucked.
Since the break up of Ma Bell ATT has just sucked.

Around here Cricket sucks too. Unless you are in the cities, once you leave the city, the signal is gone. Not sure how that is going to help AT&T. They need better coverage
Roy J. Tellason:
I see some negative opinions here, but at the moment I'm using ATT. They have coverage at my present location (out in the boonies) where Verizon didn't, by way of my (former) straight talk phone...
I'm locked into a contract, but I figure that it's a viable choice for the moment compared to what else I can find in this area at present.
Yeah, there are lots of resellers out there, but I don't see them getting the same priority on the towers as those that own the towers.
We'll see how it goes.

I too was stuck with ATT in Alaska. They put in ALL the cell towers and controlled it all for the longest time.
Now everyone and their kids use the ATT towers.
What soured me to ATT was the fact that I lived like 1/2 mile from a tower yet got poor reception inside and outside the house.
After repeated complaints they told me that it had to do with the direction of their antennas and that of the other carriers. ATT gave up the side facing me so the signal was weak and flaky.
If I walked 100' east or west I got great reception.
