Court Says You Can Be Liable For Sending A Text Message To Someone Who's Driving

Yep. Read a study that said roughly 50% of all drivers text will in their cars. Maybe self driving cars is the real answer.

Voice to text. If Apple made a voice prompt to turn Siri on, you could completely send a text without touching the phone. I never had much success having her read me replies, but I only played with it for a minute
But it should be possible to program completely voice activated texting

The point is the distraction of doing something other than driving. I managed to avoid a major accident when someone blew through a intersection with a cell phone on the ear 3 years ago. Two cars ahead of me passed when the light changed to green and I went into it about 3-4 seconds after them. The driver drove through like it was a parking lot.

Charles did that to me in Boston, while I screamed RED LIGHT over and over in the back seat. I never rode with him again.

Umm, think about it for a minute. What is the point of voice texting? Isn't that the same as PICKING UP THE FREAKING PHONE AND TALKING TO THE OTHER PERSON?
Yes, I HATE texting. It's technology that needs to die and never be seen again. What's wrong with just talking to another person on the phone? Or, if you don't want to talk to them, email them instead? Text is spawn of satan.
Edit: no I'm not saying we all need to have a cell phone stuck to our ear or send an email while driving. Either use hands free only when you are behind the wheel or don't do it at all. I was speaking of texting in and of itself. It's extremely anti-social technology no matter how you look at it.

My wife and I text to each other through out the day. I often text to buyers or PMs. Its the most useful tool I can think of after the web. If I had to give up texting or voice calls I am not sure which I would deep six. The real issue is distracted driving. My pet peeve is people that drive with a dog in their lap. That should be an automatic ticket imo.
