Seriously who doesn't like Pizza? But you know what I like more?
klabs1:
Ordering online.
I just ordered the other day at Papa Gino's and even thought they wouldn't have my order ready I was pleasantly surprised. And that's not all.
Today I found out my local favorite weekly take out place has just upped his game by offering online ordering from his menu and ironically he uses a software called Pizza Direct. I guess Pizza techs are evolving.
Anyway what I excited about is they often have specials that are not listed on their hand out flyer but now they post them online for take out and I can stay in the loop.
A little background first about me first to explain my excitement.
About a year and a half ago my lovely wife who is a hairdresser was renting a chair from an established salon for a few years and they would tease her about how she was moving to online to book appointments. They thought it was crazy at first until her clientele started growing and it wasn't from calls through the salon.
She one day had to bite the bullet and had to open her salon by herself. It was scary for her at first but she had my support and that was all she needed.
I already had her set up with a website on my domain but that wasn't enough, I told her she had to use the trendy online social environment to capitalize on free advertisement and she adopted an online booking program that also could be used in face book.
Well needless to say her business has been unbelievable and mostly because she hardly ever has to answer the phone to book appointments. Her customers love the fact that they can go online and see whats available and book it on the spot even with their smart phone. Sadly all her previous associates who also had to move on didn't seize that opportunity and are still struggling to get clients. My wife on the other hand is overwhelmed with appointments.
Now that my local restaurant lets me see what's new and what I can order online I'm a happy camper. :-)
And they do make really good Pizza.
I just love when technology serves as better purpose than just to play around. Facebook and You tube can really suck but they can also be used to open a connection to your potential clients.
I just felt like sharing even though nobody might ever read this post. But I got it out and it was fun typing it. :-)
Another glass of wine would make it complete. :-) It's Friday night and I had a long day servicing customers that expected much more then what their company was paying for. I get paid the same so I can give a little.

That's actually a good post and is something I agree with- if you can believe that.
Online reservations do work very well for industries where they know how much time they need for each appointment (such as hair salons, dentists, etc). They don't work well at all for industries, like computer shops, where you really don't know if an appointment is going to take 30 minutes or 3 hours. That's only when thinking of reservations though. The rest can work for all businesses- most people like being able to contact a business with a simple email or social network post.
For my onsite work more than half my customers now email me instead of calling me when they need service- and that works best for me. I can't always answer the phone but I can take a few seconds to read an email. Plus it means I have a 'paper trail' of the discussion.
Todd Hughes:
Ordering a pizza is something that is way too important to trust to the internet! I always use the phone, that way I KNOW somebody took my order and that my pizza will be ready when I show to pick it up.

Everytime I order from the Bid D they screw up my order.. online or off line. They hire some of the dumbest people at that bake shop and pizza hut doesn't deliver to my area.. too far away.. wow a whole 7 miles.,

The booking program sounds interesting, what is it, if you don't mind?
