March Acrbo Newsletter.

(1/2) > >>

Nathan Williams:
I use the newsletter that Acrbo members are allowed to redistribute.   First article is one on online gaming sites.   I am always very leery of  telling clients about them because I don't know if they are safe or not.   The newsletter is here.  http://www.windowsrenew.com/newsletter/

Does anyone know if the sites listed are really safe or not?   I'm thinking of not using that article because I don't trust it.  Really would like to find a better source for newsletter content.

Xenokilla:
Those sites are legit for flash games, you will still need a good pop up/ad blocker. I recommend firefox with add block plus. So as long as the user knows not to click on the ads you'll be okay. So in other words your forked!

So are you saying there is malware in the ads?  Sounds like I'm not going to publish that article.

bfarmer:
All I know for sure is that a lot of the infected PCs I get have those PopCap games on them.

Xenokilla:
IMHO.

The flash games themselves are not malware, their usually just java or flash or shockwave or whatever. However, these games are designed with causal gamers in mind. IE the morons we deal with every single day that don't know that the email attachment from their aunt Milly (they don't have an aunt Milly) is a massive virus. SO the ads are designed to lure people into clicking on them and downloading things. So its a bad idea.
