Reading Google reviews on my competition
Parrish:
So I figured I'd cruise the Googles and read some of the reviews left for my competitors. Granted, most have no reviews at all (including mine) but maybe that's good overall- seems most people tend to only want to leave a review if they are upset. The positive reviews are typically fake (you can tell because they all are posted the same day or within a day or two of each other).
Here's a sampling.

Scam artists Their tech support is anything but skilled. It is like used car salesmen who have no clue about the cars they are selling.

Crappy unprofessional work!!! I took my computer to them because it was running slow. I was told it may have a virus infection and they would run a virus scan. The work took much longer than promised and I had to take back the system again because the computer was still not running well. I will not recommend this company to anyone. Better to take your system to Pc Direct on Grape road, which is what I wound up doing. They asked me if I had taken it to Geek Squad, since there were files on there that Geek Squad's software would have left on there. Very odd. My rating: Hated It!!!!

I was charged something around 90$ for a basic after-market audio installation. Generally, customers would expect a bit more than just an installation. Instead, the installer left me additional work. To start with, I have to note that installation itself was fine. So far my audio seems to be working well. But installer seems to be a mud walker too. He left his mudded foot prints on my driver and passenger floor mats. All four tires were severely mudded too. He did not even bother to clean after himself before handing over the car keys. This is shameful. The place itself looks very clean and pretty fancy, but I can't say the same about the service itself.

As Xeno linked- you find the reviews via Google Maps. Just pull up the map of your area and search for something like computer repair. It will then show your competitors on the map and you can then view their Google Places profile to see if there are any reviews.

Here's another I just found:

"I dropped my computer into them in January I was told my computer was working and that I could pick it up. However the computer would not turn on and was in worse condition then when I dropped it off. They said they did not know what happened and that they would look at it but then they would not return my phone calls and when I finally got a hold of someone they were very rude and said they would get to it when they get to it. After THREE WEEKS of having my computer sit there they were able to find the time to look at it and told me the computer was fried and would never work again. I was very upset since my computer was given back to me dead and when I gave it to them it was working. When I asked for my computer back and the money I had payed him to have it fixed, the owner told me that my money would not be returned and that this was not their fault or problem but HP's and Vista's fault for selling me a poor quality computer/software and then pushed to sell me one of his Dells!"

Granted, the laptop was very likely one of the crappy DVx000 series with the bad nVidia chipset. But they should have never charged the customer for that. As soon as we see those laptops come in our store we give them right back to the customer letting them know what's going on with that series. No way we charge for it. We've also found there are Compaq models and a few off-brand laptops out there with the identical issue. Same goes for the HP TouchSmart all-in-ones. They are all crap and WILL fail.
