What's new with eBox

I have been running eBox as a backoffice server for a few years now. Was researching stuff for another thread and noticed I'm a few releases behind. Looks like it's upgrade time, I'll report back on my impressions.

OK, so I upgraded like this:
edit /etc/apt/sources.list
add the line "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ebox/1.2/ubuntu hardy main"
then run "apt-get update" and "apt-get dist-upgrade"
Viola! Went from version 1.0 to 1.2.3 without even having to reboot. It also replaced Courier IMAP/POP with Dovecot, upgraded the DHCP and DNS server apps, installed a new database server, backup mechanism, VOIP server, and reconfigured all the upgraded packages with my existing settings.
(Try upgrading SBS 2003 to SBS 2008 with 2 commands on the command line and NO reboot! :P )

Nice stuff. I have always liked this suite but it's got even more to like now. There's a monitoring module with graphs and alerts that can be setup under the events module to notify you if thresholds are reached/exceeded (cpu utilization, disk space, memory usage, service status, bandwidth utilization, etc).
eGroupware V 1.6 (OWA type replacement) is really nice too. Tons of optional things available within the user web interface (resources and scheduling, project management, timesheets, file manager, wiki, KB, etc.) Blows away simple email/calendar/contacts that the other guy's webmail feature gives you. You can also apply permission templates to eGroupware so that certain features are not available, and the "users and groups" module within EBox allows you to apply the templates to either users or whole groups.
EBox in PDC mode allow you Group Policy type control over most of the functions (printer pool, file shares, etc.) Also does roaming profiles in PDC mode with a simple click of a checkbox and pick which letter (from a drop down box) you want to assign to the mapped drive.
This really is a way better option for small offices than SBS could ever be!

Well, judging by another thread next door, this SBS upgrade can take days to complete (and requires a hardware upgrade if SBS 2003 was running on 32 bit stuff). ;D

Does it have themes? Last time I looked at eBox it had an (donkey) ugly interface. But I'm spoiled by Zimbra
